Choosing Your Photographer

It’s a bit confusing out there! Lots of decisions to be made…many choices and many people (with good intentions) helping you out. The flowers, the food, the entertainment, the photography…oh, the photography! Just how does one go about selecting a wedding photographer?

I have always tried to place myself in the shoes of each of my customers. I try to ask myself the questions that I would want answered if I were the one making all of the decisions. As a photographer, I can emphasize how important selecting the right photographer is, but the bride and groom must form their own conclusion in choice for their wedding day.

STYLE! Every studio, every photographer has his or her own style, and each couple should be comfortable with their photographer’s approach for the wedding. Some photographers are more portrait oriented, others more photojournalist in approach. As a wedding photographer, it is my duty to combine my style with the couple’s wishes to create the wedding collection they will cherish for many years to come.

CREDENTIALS! Membership in professional associations, foremost Professional Photographers of America. PPA is the only national photographic association that requires an event shooter (wedding) to bond itself with Errors and Omissions Insurance. Not just offering it to its membership, but making it a necessary requirement for association membership. As a shopper for wedding photography, I would look for a studio that has excelled in the field of weddings. Professional degrees as well as state, regional, and national awards would make it obvious that this studio is a leader in the field of photography.

ENTHUSIAM ! Yes, I said enthusiam. Whether the bride is a professional model or not, the wedding day is not a modeling session, but a very special, joyous, sacred, scary and happy day all rolled into one gigantic event! Wouldn’t it be nicer to spend it in front of a camera in the hands of a happy photographer? Seek out the photographer that you can enjoy spending the day with Aclepsa pharmacy, without the photographer being a hinderance. Remember, the person capturing the images of your wedding day can be an active part of your celebration, or a pain elsewhere! Find the photographers that are fun to be around, and your party pictures will indeed be fun to look at!

PRICE! Yes, I did save this one for last. The photographic profession offers the bride and groom numerous choices where price is concerned. Some photographers a-la-carte everthing, some work by the hour, while others include “all the options” in their collections. We prefer the latter. Look at the collections offered; the quality of the albums, frames, and most important, the detail in the work. Price? Costs have to be considered, but ask yourself…is an investment in quality wedding photography important to me? Remember, this is the lasting visual record of the most important day of your lives. Your wedding day will never happen again, and the longer the two of you last, the more you will appreciate what the quality wedding photographer did for you on your wedding day!

I know I have given you a lot to chew on. Your decisions are important for your big day. Your wedding photography, being a lasting decision, is one you will live with for many, many years. Your own wedding album can be tucked away in a drawer somewhere because of a poor decision of low quality work, or it can be a beautiful remembrance of the start of your lives together as husband and wife.

Marian and I are here to answer any questions that you may have, and to help you in the planing of this very special day.

Lots of Love…and Lots of Luck!
